Basic information Cylindrical roller thrust bearings provide stiff bearing arranggements which require a minimum of axial space, can accomodate heavy axial loads and are insensitive to shock loads. They are single direction bearings and consequently suitable for the accomodation of axial loads in one direction. Their main use is in applications where the load carrying capacity of thrust ball bearings is inadequate. Cylindrical roller thrust bearings are of simple design and generally comprise a shaft washer, a housing washer and a cylindrical roller and cage thrust assembly by itself. For this reason the various bearing components may also be supplied separately. The washers can be dispensed with when the appropriate machine components are suitable as raceways and when they can be hardened and ground. Particularly slim bearing arrangments can be achieved in this way, and where machining is correspondigly accurate, increased running accuracy can also be obtained.
