Basic information

Plummer or pillow block split bearing housing

are housing that hold rolling element (self aligning ball or spherical) bearings or sliding bearings.

Their design elements include:

cast iron
cast steel
machined steel
rolled steel housing.

Split housing design allows for easy bearing removal. Some designs using sliding bearings/bushings allow removal and replacement without removal of the shaft.
